  7. Hi, just put the for system folder items into the system folder and restart
  8. your Mac (you've probably already done that). You can now run Symbolic
  9. Composer in demo mode selecting the Demo button on the authorization
  10. panel that first appears when you run the program. However, the program
  11. is open Lisp environment, which means that all functionalities are 
  12. cancelled to make it impossible to break the copy protection.

  14. This means you cannot execute SCOM score files - but you can open the 
  15. source files and the MIDI files in the demo menu (in tools menu). All 
  16. system functions are also documented and you can access them from the
  17. pop-up menus or the hyperhelp button on the toolbar.

  19. Symbolic Composer is a music programming language, so if you feel
  20. comfortable writing scores using a language it is a very powerful system 
  21. to compose music. But if you are looking for an accompaniment software then
  22. Symbolic Composer is not what you need. On the other hand, if you want
  23. to learn more about music theory Symbolic Composer is a very deep
  24. resource for further exploration.

  33. Hi, you have to wait until it is authorized. Functionality is cancelled 
  34. in demo mode and you will get results you described. If you try more 
  35. complex evaluations the system will crash. This behaviour is normal and 
  36. makes hacking difficult.

  38. The demo lets you do the following:

  40. -open and play MIDI files in tools/examples/demos menu
  41. -open corresponding source files
  42. -open documents
  43. -edit and save documents
  44. -operate interface items
  45.  
  46. Authorization restores full functionality.
  47.
